Mung beans are a legume grown in Venezuela and sold mainly to the Asian market. These crops are grown by rice producers, who use them as a recovery crop from December to February, when the harvesting process begins.
GSI Food, informed that the 2023 mung bean season starts this February and for this year the objective is to increase the quality of services associated with mung beans and to offer freight to other exporters.
The 2022 season ended with great success, both for GSI Food and for the Venezuelan market; the country closed the year with +120 thousand MT of mung beans marketed, positioning itself as a benchmark in South America. By the end of the year, GSI Food was the leading organization in Venezuela in the commercialization of this product, reaching 30% of the market share.
