At GSI Food we carried out a Corporate Social Responsibility Plan in which we trained 21 high school students to develop their professional vocation and management skills; in addition to recognizing four of them for their efforts as the most outstanding, for 1st place, a scholarship of 100% of university tuition; 2nd place, an English course; and 3rd and 4th place, an Excel course.
Our plan was designed by the agency With U, specialized in advising its clients on CSR plans, who executed the Genios Project, which included 3 training modules, where 21 students from Caracas received classes in business management, management communication and vocational development and leadership. The schools that took part in the experience in this first edition were the UEI Elena de Bueno in Los Chorros, the “ETP María Auxiliadora”, the “Colegio María Auxiliadora” and the CEAPUCV in Bello Monte.
The 21 Geniuses, after 3 months of training, were certified by the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA) who endorsed the project and provided the academic sessions in their classrooms and with a staff of professors, experts in the management world.
Patricia Monteferrante, professor and Coordinator of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IESA, stated that they are extremely pleased “to have certified the Genios project implemented by GSI Food”, adding that “IESA is convinced that everything is part of the learning process”, who also indicated that when GSI Food proposed the idea of bringing the business world and the dynamics of organizations closer to them, they immediately took up the challenge.
On the other hand, the Geniuses also had two trips: one of them to the INSALSA facilities, our allies, and were able to learn about their pasta and cookie manufacturing process; and the other to “Ocamar” in Puerto Cabello to see a bulk ship marketed by GSI Food and learn about its unloading.
In keeping with the spirit of developing its CSR activities through volunteering, GSI Food employees had an important participation through activities such as: tutoring in the development of classes, reporting experiences throughout their development in the business world, review of essays and applications of students who want to be part of the program, planning a life project, among others.
Pedro Pulido, our Human Resources and Innovation and Development Manager, indicated that they were fulfilling a dream, which was to be able to carry out social responsibility away from welfare issues and thus be able to create a program that although it seems small can change lives in the long term and added that “for GSI, it is a seed that we want to sow, not only in Venezuela, but also in these kids, in our Geniuses”, concluded Pulido.
