At the Rice Market Technology Convention Reinaldo Pedrique our CBDO and Stefano Di Lanzo our Trade Manager shared with the main leaders in the rice world, both suppliers and customers.
It was a very interesting convention as they discussed the current market situation and projections for the coming years. They sought to understand the problems that exist in the region, due to the complexity and import needs of Central America. One of the most discussed topics was the quality and price of rice imports from the United States, which has been the historical importer of the region, but today is not providing a good quality product and additionally at very high prices, so the discussions were mainly focused on finding solutions to this problem.
Reinaldo Pedrique, highlighted the importance of the discussion on the impact of the increase in freight and fertilizers on the rice crops, “I think that in the coming years will continue to impact prices upwards so we must seek alternatives to solve this situation especially with the issue of fertilizers”.
